Happy hour is a daily tradition when we’re all together. We basically press a “pause button” on everything else going on, and the 11 of us just shoot the breeze.

You might recall that one of the (only two!) things on my "must do" list for this trip to the Cape was to enjoy family drinks & snacks on the beach. Our first attempt at drinks & hors d'oeuvres beach-side was bamboozled by strong winds & mist. Instead, we unconventionally set up all our stuff in Grammy & Gramps backyard!

The novelty of it all made for an even more fun time. We poured some bubbly and I fumbled my way through an ill prepared speech about how much my family all mean to us, and how much we’ll miss this kind of quality time together over the next year. Tears wiped aside, we toasted to family & safe travels. Grammy & Erinn had a few thoughtful gifts to wish us well in our travels, including a tiny Polaroid picture of all of them (that’s tucked safely into my fanny pack as I type :)!

The kiddos made flags of a bunch of countries we've visiting. Entrepreneurs that they are, they were trying to sell them to us adults :)

Our last night we tried again, and successfully ticked off “drinks & hors devours at the beach” with a beautiful evening down at Pleasant Beach. We brought the “RTW Begins Here” sign with us down to the beach and got some awesome group photos! Thank you again, Grammy & Gramps! xo

I can’t think of a better place - or better people - to kick off our RTW trip!!
